What we do

MAC Ltd provides a broad range of technical services to network operators, equipment manufacturers, defence organisations and government departments in the UK and abroad. We undertake projects relating to the major wireless technologies including GSM, TETRA, UMTS, LTE, cdma2000, WiFi, Bluetooth and ZigBee and also proprietary technologies such as ad hoc networks and mesh systems. Our work is wide-ranging and often focuses on new and emerging technologies.

Business Development Manager

We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, dynamic and flexible individual, who has the ability and desire to develop our business in existing and new areas. The successful applicant must

  • have a proven track record in finding and developing business opportunities within the wireless communications and related sectors,
  • be able to understand complex technical concepts at a high level to aid in discussions with existing and prospective customers,
  • be able to contribute to discussions and decisions on the company’s strategic direction,
  • be able to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form, and
  • be well-organised, disciplined and able to work without close supervision.

Key skills that would be of interest to us are:

  • an understanding of wireless communications technologies and the wireless communications market place,
  • a proven ability to find and develop business opportunities within the wireless communications sector,
  • good networking and interpersonal skills,
  • an ability to find and access key decision makers within existing and potential client organisations,
  • an understanding of effective and efficient marketing approaches for promoting consulting and product development services including through the use of social media, and
  • experience of working with overseas product distributors would be an advantage.

Hardware, DSP, FPGA Design Engineers

MAC Ltd has a core competence in the design of digital signal processing systems (hardware and software) and is looking for high calibre engineers with an interest in developing their skills in FPGA design, embedded DSP software and hardware design.

We are seeking exceptional, highly motivated, dynamic and flexible engineers, who have the ability and desire to work both at a high-level, eg, on system studies and evaluations, and at a detailed level, eg, developing software and hardware to meet well-defined specifications. The successful applicant must

  • hold a First or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science, or a PhD in an electronics or computer science related field from a university with an established reputation in these subjects,
  • be interested in wireless communications and related technologies,
  • be an innovative thinker and have good problem solving abilities,
  • be able to present their work clearly in both verbal and written form, and
  • be well-organised, disciplined and able to work without close supervision.

Key skills that would be of interest to us are:

  • C/C++/C#/Java programming
  • MATLAB programming
  • Real-time embedded software development
  • Knowledge of Linux
  • FPGA design using VHDL
  • Board level hardware design including high speed digital and radio frequency electronics
  • Use of CAD tools for schematic capture and board layout
  • An understanding of digital signal processing principles
