Who We Are
Founded in 1986, Multiple Access Communications Limited (MAC Ltd) has a wealth of experience in the specification, design and implementation of wireless systems. Building on its heritage in the mobile cellular industry from the early days of GSM (2G) MAC Ltd has worked on all of the subsequent generations (3G, 4G and now 5G) as well as on many allied technologies such as TETRA, Bluetooth, WiFi, Zigbee and satellite systems. We have an in-depth knowledge of the fundamental technologies on which these systems are built, eg, radio frequency systems, modulation, error correction coding, equalisation, FDMA, TDMA, CDMA, OFDM, and also in the specific ways these technologies are applied in the many commercial standards.
MAC Ltd is privately-owned and independent, hence when you work with us you can be sure of impartial advice and no conflicts of interest. We have been helping our clients with analysis, evaluation, design and development of advanced mobile radio technologies and equipment for over 30 years, so you can be sure that our work is built on solid foundations.
On this website you will find a summary of the services we offer, which cover modelling and simulation, digital signal processing (DSP), field programmable gate array (FPGA) design, embedded software, hardware design, user interface and database software and much more. More than anything we like a challenge and our clients return to us because we have a track record in solving difficult problems or handling complexity. So, if you need a solution to a problem in your project, give us a call and we’d be happy to take up the challenge.
“Expertise in radio communications technology is the foundation of our business.”

In other cases they are the starting point for a custom development. If you have a requirement that you think could be fulfilled by one of our modules then please contact us and we will be happy to discuss how we could deliver a solution to your needs.
Who We Work For
For the majority of our customers wireless communications is their primary business. These customers include:
- operators of land mobile cellular and mobile satellite networks;
- private mobile radio (PMR) network operators;
- public safety radio network operators;
- government organisations dealing with spectrum licensing and regulation; and
- radio communications equipment manufacturers.
We also assist organisations for whom wireless communications is a key component of their business operations, including:
- national rail operators;
- public utilities companies;
- government defence and security organisations;
- defence equipment manufacturers; and
- semiconductor companies.
Given our focus on new technology, we are also able to assist industries who are increasingly using wireless communications as an enabling technology to enhance their business operations. We are active in remote monitoring systems and sensor networks, and follow closely developments in areas such as RFID, smart environments and automated highways.
