A significant part of the business of Multiple Access Communications Limited (MAC Ltd) is providing services for cellular, private mobile radio (PMR) and other wireless network operators. Here are examples of some of the services we provide.
Coverage measurement, analysis and verification
MAC Ltd offers expertise in all aspects of radio propagation analysis and modelling. We also manufacture and market the CatchAll™ measurement receiver and the TRAMPS™ "TETRA Measurement and Performance System", which are used for accurate radio coverage surveys and radio network troubleshooting. We develop and trial custom survey tools and applications, and we are particularly active in the detection, analysis and mitigation of radio frequency interference.
Software tool development
Examples of tools we have developed recently for our customers include...
- the specification and creation of new software models to evaluate the cumulative costs of future RAN and core network expansion, focusing on the identification of key breakpoints in the cost trajectory
- specification of complete engineering designs for custom RAN capacity planning software tools
- detailed evaluations of radio network planning tools to verify the computational integrity of some of the tools’ key algorithms
- specification of the features and functionality required of new radio planning tool modules to support new radio interface technologies
- specification and development of custom software tools to model, analyse, report and log interference between different radio systems deployed in adjacent spectrum allocations

Network planning and optimisation
MAC Ltd is a leading authority on the design and planning of mobile radio networks for urban environments and has extensive experience of technology trials and equipment upgrades.
Technical evaluations
Technology departments are regularly asked by senior management to comment on technical matters. MAC Ltd has the experience and expertise to perform technical evaluations efficiently and effectively, whilst engaging MAC Ltd allows a customer’s technical staff to retain focus on their priority responsibilities. We base our analysis on relevant technical knowledge, applying rigorous theoretical analysis and/or computer simulation and modelling, as required.
